What is injection extrusion?

Working principle of plastic extrusion

Plastic extrusion transforms polymer materials into continuous profiles with uniform cross-section. The process involves melting plastic particles in a heated barrel, and then passing the molten material through a customized mold to form the contour shape you want.
Main advantages compared with other processes:
Extrusion molding is good at continuous and uniform contour, excellent material consistency and minimum waste-very suitable for sealing systems, pipes, structural parts and decorative parts.

Material preparation and feeding

The raw polymer particles will dry (if hygroscopic) and be sent to the extruder hopper. Our materials scientists will choose the best polymer grade according to your performance requirements.

Melting and homogenization

The screw rotates in the heated barrel and melts the plastic through friction and heat conduction. Additives and pigments will be fully mixed to obtain uniform characteristics.

Mould forming and size adjustment

Molten plastic is molded into the required shape through a precision-designed mold. Our engineers optimize the mold design to prevent material stagnation and ensure dimensional stability.

Cooling and cutting

The extruded profile is calibrated and cooled to solidify its shape. Finally, it is cut into specified length or rolled into continuous application.

How do you ensure the consistency of long-term production?
We use real-time SPC (Statistical Process Control) monitoring to cover all extrusion production lines and track 12+ key parameters, including temperature, pressure, speed and size. Our automation system is constantly fine-tuned to maintain consistency. In addition, we conduct quality inspection every hour and maintain detailed batch records to achieve complete traceability.
Standard project: it takes 2-3 weeks for mold design and manufacture, and 1-2 weeks for initial sample. After approval, production will begin within one week. For complex projects that need a lot of DFM analysis or customized material formula, it takes an extra 1-2 weeks. We provide accelerated services for urgent projects-please contact us to discuss your schedule.
Our engineers will conduct a comprehensive manufacturing design (DFM) analysis to find out the areas that can reduce the use of materials, speed up extrusion, improve performance or simplify tooling.
